Writing Better Essays is a self paced course on essay writing course that includes six lessons on essay writing and six tasks, a total of twelve essays, to be sent in for correction and evaluation. WBE is available for Gamsat AU and IE candidates from October to mid-March and for Gamsat UK candidates from mid-April to mid-September. After paying for the course, you send your typed essays in by email.

Writing Better Essays teaches the specific skills required for success in the Gamsat essay-writing section. It will also help to hone skills that will permanently improve your ability to write well. We do not teach you to write mediocre essays based on a formula. Instead, Writing Better Essays will help you develop your own writing style.

Submitted essays are marked and then the candidate is provided with detailed feedback that is both constructive and positive. Candidates are given constructive advice on how to improve their individual styles. Lessons in essay writing are an integral part of this course. In addition, essays on the same topics by peers from previous years are included for each task. The markers’ commentaries on these peer essays reinforce aspects of essay organisation and style.

Each of six tasks is equivalent to a full Section 2 (of Gamsat) requiring the candidate to write two essays in one hour.

If you work at the usual rate of one task per week, Writing Better Essays takes under two months to complete all six lessons and tasks.

As in the Gamsat, our essay topics change from year to year. Because our markers make individual comments on your essays, they cannot stand marking the same topics year after year. After some 600 essays on >Happiness’, the markers have had enough of happiness to last several years.

For Gamsat AU and Gamsat IE candidates (the March sitting of Gamsat), your tasks can be sent in from 15 December onwards. The recommended date for the submission of the first task is 15 January and the deadline for acceptance of this first task is 1 February. Late starters can take the Short Course of 6 lessons with tasks 4 to 6 only. The recommended date for the submission of task 4 is 17 February and the deadline for acceptance of task 4 is 25 February.

For Gamsat UK candidates (the September sitting of Gamsat), your tasks can be sent in from 15 June onwards. The recommended date for the submission of the first task is 19 July and the deadline for acceptance of this first task is 5 August. Late starters can take the Short Course of 6 lessons with tasks 4 to 6 only. The recommended date for the submission of task 4 is 18 August and the deadline for acceptance of task 4 is 26 August.
